Question by : Can you take internal laptop speakers and run them off a standard mono or stereo 3.5mm jack?
For a project I want to connect some old loose internal laptop speakers to my computer via a USB 7.1 external sound card (like a tiny surround sound set up). Do the speakers themselves need to be powered, or can I just wire them to 3.5mm plugs and hook them into the sound card?

Best answer:

Answer by Kim P
I think you can just wire them directly, (no power needed) but you might need to wire in a volume control of some kind so you don’t overpower them and blow them out. Or just make sure you have the volume down when you first try them out. Sounds like a cool project. Good Luck!

My old laptop with Windows XP has Windows Photo Editor on it. My new laptop has Windows 7, but I hate the photo editor on it and much prefer the old one. Can I transfer it? And if so, where can I find it? I’ve looked all over the files on my old laptop but can’t find it.

Answer by Kate Winteam
Hi Brandon,

Have you tried the new photo editor that comes with the Windows Live Essentials beta? It just came out really recently. You can check it out and download the beta here: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-beta
